CARPET BAGS

With the massive expansion of railroad around the 1840’s and 1850’s, ordinary folk were traveling in big numbers, and there was a great need for cheap luggage, so a massive amount of carpetbags were made. They were made by saddle makers around the US and were many sizes and shape. They were called carpetbags because the makers would buy old carpets and make the bags from the pieces of carpet that were not completely worn out. This how carpet bags could be manufactured cheaply. They sold in Dry Goods stores for a small price.

CUT THROAT RAZORS

This collection of razors ,i was given by a lady who's husband was an officer in the Indian army ,the gentleman in question had 8 razors all together which i was kindly given .
The reason for so many razors was that he used a different razor each day of the week and a spare one just in case.
Of course one never shaved himself ,one had a man servant to do such tasks .
if want to learn to shave the traditional way check out www.pluma.org.uk

SLACK LINNING

Slacklining is a balance sport which you use a nylon webbing stretched tight between two anchor points. Slacklining is diferant from tightrope walking is the line is not held taut; instead , stretching and bouncing like a massive rubber band. The line's tauntness can be adjusted to suit the walkerr and different types of webbing can be used to achieve a variety of feats. The line is flat, due to the makeup of the webbing, whichs keeps the slacker's footing from rolling as would be the case with a rope.

FISHING BRAZIL

After working late one night i went for a bit of a stroll along the beach and came across a group of local fellas setting up there fishing gear.
The sun was setting ,so i got chatting to them about what they where planning on catching and after a bit of world wide fishing lingo, they seemed to be going to fish for squid .
As you can see by the fellas lures they where imitating bright coloured fish at the bottom of the lure were a number of little hooks.
The fisherman told me he made them him self and pointed out the freakier looking lure the better.
